Electrician Referral Service For Members
Throughout CA, there is a shortage of qualified electrical journeymen. As a result, WECA has been asked on numerous
occasions by members (and prospective members) if we had in place, or could develop, a program that would supply names,
addresses, job location interests, and a myriad of other details about journeymen actively seeking work. After innumerable,
detailed planning sessions, we concluded this could be a highly desired member benefit that would naturally parallel our
extremely successful apprenticeship program.
But, in order to be effective and legal, it must be done properly. Much to our surprise, we found there are several
other IEC Chapters throughout the nation who had done exactly what we envisioned. Our challenge, and it was a major hurdle,
was to develop a referral/job posting system that can cover the entire state. Many of the other IEC Chapters only cover areas
like one city. So we requested and received detailed program information from those active IEC Chapters and constructed a
large-scale WECA model that should benefit all our members statewide.
All those other IEC Chapters told us this was their primary member benefit. Contractors joined their organization
just to be a part of this network, and membership resignations virtually disappeared because the system worked.
After months of planning and hard work, WECA has successfully implemented its own online Electrician Referral Service.
If you need journeymen, WECA will again be your main source provider.
What is the Electrician Referral Service?
The Electrician Referral Service will allow you to:
- Search for Journeymen based on the criteria you select (Experience Level, Work Area, Years of Experience, etc.)
- View detailed information on Journeymen including contact information, background, employment information,
skills, and work area preferences
Using the Electrician Referral Service
To use the Electrician Referral Service you must be a current WECA Contractor Member. If you are interested in becoming a member,

Current WECA Contractor Members will be assigned a login and password that will grant them access to all WECA
Electrician Referral Service features plus access to Prevailing Wage information and reports on the Apprentices they employ.
