Recommended Prerequisite for Journeymen: Take Sizing Motor Circuits first and have experience with and know how to use the NEC, and have 1+ years on-the-job experience.

In this course, you will learn how to coordinate information in specific NEC articles, so you can properly select and install the correct electrical circuit components and conductors needed for different load and circuit configurations.
Knowing how to coordinate electrical circuit ampacity factors for any planned electrical installation will help you on jobs like:

  • Design-build projects
  • Tenant improvements
  • Unplanned electrical equipment changes

One of the intentions of this course is to debunk some of the incorrect thinking that has been applied to conductor installations – like applying a generalized circuit sizing approach like… “a 10 AWG copper conductor is good for 30 Amps”.

Don’t be the electrician who thinks he gets it, but makes costly mistakes. Pay close attention during this course and you can be the electrician who “really gets it” when it comes to the complex process of coordinating conductor properties and circuit ampacity for electrical installations.

Students must pass the final exam to earn credit for this course. All course hours must be completed within 90 days of purchase to receive credit. Log on instructions will be sent by the preferred method of contact chosen during the class registration process. Please allow one business day for order processing and access to the course.
