Department of Industrial Relations

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established to improve working conditions for California's wage earners, and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. The DIR has six main areas of responsibility which include Workers' Compensation, Occupational Safety & Health, Labor Law, Apprenticeship, Mediation and Conciliation and Statistics and Research. Each has their own Division.

Below you will find helpful links to the State of California Department of Industrial Relations as well as the Division of Apprenticeship Standards.

Division of Apprenticeship Standards

The Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS) administers California Apprenticeship law and enforces Apprenticeship Standards for wages, hours, working conditions and the specific skills required for State Certification as a Journeyperson in an apprenticeable occupation.
